We inhabit a world that can never be fully known.
I believe making is a way of living within the distance between ourselves and the world.
It is a way of encountering a world that always exceeds us. Every material, object, landscape, and living thing possesses a reality beyond what we can perceive or understand.
It is within that distance that making becomes a way of knowing.
Perhaps this is what making something offers:
Not certainty.
Not resolution.
But a way of dwelling within the distance between things.
A way of staying with what withdraws,
with what unfolds in time,
with what appears only partially.
If objects are deeper than their appearances, if beauty shimmers in that distance, then making is more than an act of creation.
It is a way of participating in a world where every encounter reveals something new, yet remains forever incomplete.
